Tiphy’s Tiki Torch | Tina & Joephy

June 4, 2013

Good morning everyone!

It has come to another chapter in my life where I attend more of my friends’ weddings than usual…a sign of old age or a reality check that I am not a kid anymore. In any case, we can all still be kids at heart. One of my childhood friends finally tied the knot at beautiful Strawberry Farms in Orange County. Tina and Joephy are one of those wedding couples you imagine in movies. Tina and Joephy were middle school classmates then became inseparable since sophomore year in high school when they became an official couple. For the next 12 years, they circled the globe together and had one adventure after another. After over a decade of memories together, it was finally time for the next great adventure at their wedding with all our bros and gals that we grew up together here at Strawberry Farms in Irvine.

It was a lovely morning when Tina and her girls all got their makeup done while the boys horsed around and tried to look dashingly uniformed all the way down to their ties. Joephy’s bestman, Phi, had to tie everyone’s ties since some boys tied differently while some did not know how to tie one. Since all the entire wedding party all grew up together since elementary and middle school, there were a lot of horsing around…some of their wedding photos were just NSFW, so those wedding pictures shall be left to their private gallery only! Once everyone were prepped up and ready to rock, we all caravan our way to Strawberry Farms to get their show on the road. Since this was an extra special wedding feature with friends I can confidently call family, Danny, Wilson, and Phebe were all armed with their own cameras for the extra coverage. Enjoy!

Pretty wedding dress! The bow on the wedding dress was a nice compliment to the lacing.

…I just had to. I suppose this was one way to getting rid of those annoying wedgies. This wedding photo was too good to not share.

Once the entire wedding party arrived at Strawberry Farms, Tina and Joephy had their “first look” and by the look of Joephy’s face, well, I cannot really tell if he is scared or excited. Nonetheless, Joephy was pleasantly surprised when he saw Tina for the first time in her wedding dress. With the extra time before their wedding ceremony at the lawn, we ran around the golf course and made the most of the blue skies and green grass for their following wedding photos.

Their sign to direct wedding guests to their ceremony was definitely a nice detail. I remembered when Tina told me how many layers she had to put on to lacquer that post. Good job, Tina! Your wedding sign got plenty of compliments, so your efforts were well not overlooked.

During cocktail hour, their wedding guests all hovered around the delicious hors d’oeuvre and mingled while my two newly weds and I took a short trip up the hill for some more wedding photos of just them. Maybe it is because I grew up with them, I felt odd whenever they kissed. ^_^

Here is one last wedding photo of the gang lounging about before their grand entrance where all the wedding guests patiently waited on the other side of the barn door.

I suppose some of us are more friendly than others (see wedding photo below). After all the speeches, dances, and wedding cakes, we had to take one group photo of all the bros. I was not in it since I had to take the photo, but I made sure to squeeze myself in a few with just Tina and Joephy!

Funny side note: That tie over the head photo with the bros all started with Wilson’s wedding. The tradition shall continue with everyone else’s weddings, hopefully in the near future!

Congratulations again to the both of you, Tina and Joephy. It was definitely and honor to be your wedding photographer here at Strawberry Farms. You two definitely knew how to throw one heck of a party!

Cheers,

p.s. – Keep on following! I will post their engagement photography session from Venice Beach up soon. Yes, their engagement photos should have come first, but I mixed up the order.

Apples to Apples | Mary & Adam

May 12, 2013

Good morning!

Mother’s Day arrived and I hope everyone has something special planned! If nothing, I bet your mum will love just a great big hug from her kids.

It has been a while since May and Adam’s beautiful wedding at Shade Hotel and Wayfarers Chapel and I still remember it like it was yesterday. If you two are reading this wedding blog, Mary and Adam, I am so sorry for the delay! I am still playing catch up on all my wedding and engagement blogs. To kick start the story about these love birds, Mary and all her girls laughed away when they got ready while Adam and his boys already popped opened the champagne and made themselves a few rounds of mimosas. While the boys waited for all the ladies to get ready, we started the wedding photo session with Adam and his entourage around Shade Hotel. The coolest part about taking these boys’ wedding photos were that Adam gave each of his boys matching Gucci shades and tie bars to look uniformed. Check out the wedding pictures below for some of their sweet shots!

While the boys horsed around Shade Hotel, we spent a little more time with Mary and her gals. Danny, Wilson, and I tried to be extra creative with Mary’s wedding details and revolve it around apples since they are not only from the Big Apple, but also associates at good ol’ Apple corporation. Luckily, a wedding guest dropped off a whole fruit basket and it was filled with apples for us to use for our next wedding photos below. To top things off after we photographed Mary’s beautiful Louboutin’s on a basket-full of apples, we hung Mary’s amazing wedding dress over the ledge for one of our wedding detail photos. It was risky business, but so worth it!

After all the preparations were done from both wedding parties, we all caravan over to Wayfarers Chapel in Palos Verdes to get these two love birds married! With the extra time while Wayfarers Chapel prepared for the wedding, Mary and Adam had their “first glance” on top of the hill in one of the gardens. Adam’s reaction to his beautiful bride was priceless! We managed to crank out a handful of sweet wedding photographs of just Mary and Adam before Wayfarers Chapel announced the wedding commencement. Enjoy the show.

After the wedding ceremony concluded at Wayfarers Chapel and all the hugs and kiss from the family members finished, the wedding party sped over to Abalone Cove for a quick wedding photography session before we all headed back to Shade Hotel for their wedding reception.

The parasols definitely added a nice touch to the follow wedding picture…and also provided shade for the extreme summer heat!

During cocktail hour and before Shade Hotel opened up the courtyard for Mary and Adam’s wedding guests, we hurried and took some sweet detail photos! The dessert bar was definitely a very nice added bonus for anyone who had a sweet tooth at the wedding. The wedding cake had a nice touch with the intricate details and a huge Apple Corp. logo on top!

Mary and Adam made one heck of a grand entrance, danced, and worked up a sweat with all their wedding guests before they were all seated. I suppose this was a good way to work up an appetite before dinner!

Bel Air Bay Club Wedding Photos | Maital & David

January 22, 2013

Good evening everyone,

It is great that Los Angeles is getting substantially warmer now. Oddly enough, I do miss the cold winter breeze at night when I walk around the city. I suppose the grass is greener on the other side. Nonetheless, I hope the weather stays like this for a while here in Los Angeles before the heat wave rolls around in a few months.

Talking about breeze, it was a beautiful Spring season in Malibu where Maital and David held their wedding at Bel Air Bay Club. The weather was right and the cool breeze from the ocean rolled in all day throughout the wedding. Danny and I started our day here at Bel Air Bay Club with Maital and all her ladies while they prepped themselves up at one of the larger conference rooms that had a beautiful balcony that overlooked the beach. Since Maital and David wanted a first look and their wedding portrait session done before their grand wedding ceremony, our wedding party was able to maximize their wedding photography session before any of their guests arrived. Since the balcony that overlooked the beach was a beautiful spot, we started their first look and wedding photography session there. Check it out!

Once our wedding photography session was over, Maital, David, and their family members joined together to sign the Ketubah. Once that was taken cared off and both family rejoiced, Maital and David prepared themselves for their grand wedding ceremony over at the Bel Air Bay Club lawn that overlooked the ocean.

When the beautiful Jewish wedding ceremony came to a touching end, it was time for these two to party hard with all their wedding guests during cocktail and reception! There were so much hugs, love, and laughter throughout the entire night while each significant family member gave their toast to our beloved wedding couple. On a side note, since Maital already anticipated David was going to try something sneaky during their wedding cake cutting, she wore an entire plastic cover to protect her wedding dress. Clever girl prevented herself a large dry cleaning bill if she was to have anything deliciously bad happen to her wedding dress. Check out what happened with the following wedding photos!

Shoots and Ladders | Jazmin & Arturo

January 12, 2013

Good morning everyone,

This morning in Los Angeles has been rather moody. First there was heavy rain, then sun, then rain, and it looks like the sun is peeping out of the clouds again. Hopefully, by the time my photo shoot starts today, the sky will clear up to capture some sweet photographs of this vintage Nissan Skyline that just arrived from Japan. For all those car junkies out there, yes, be jealous! Although I try to keep my wedding photography, commercial photography, and car photography separate, I suppose for those car enthusiasts you can check out JDM Zipties for our car photography blog.

Now back to our next wedding photography lineup! It was a moody day when Muriel and I photographed Jazmin and Arturo’s wedding. During their wedding, the morning showered a bit, then was sunny before any of the guests arrived in their intimate backyard wedding in Burbank. This backyard had so much cool decor and colors to compliment their wedding photos. Whoever designed that pad did a really great job! One section of the house that caught my attention during the wedding was that there were a bunch of colorful ladders that leaned against the side of a wall as a piece of art. I was not able to resist myself and took their bright red ladder as a prop for Jazmin and Arturo’s wedding portrait session. Check it out!

January 8, 2013

Good afternoon everyone,

The weather today was unusually warm and welcoming here in sunny Los Angeles. With the sun out and about, I had to make the most of the day…and ran errands. One of the errands involved making passes through Los Angeles and LA Union Station. The next engagement photography session will actually take place where I ran my errands too – Downtown LA Union Station and the Financial District of Los Angeles. It was a sunny afternoon when Danny and I photographed a sweet engagement photo shoot here over at Los Angeles Union Station. The theme was quite simple – fun lovely photos with a bit of spice. Check it out!

Los Angeles Union Station
Downtown LA, Ca

After we had our fill with beautiful engagement photos at LA Union Station, we made a quick trip over to the new W Hotel over at the Financial District in the West side of Downtown Los Angeles to conclude our engagement photo session.

I hope you all enjoyed their engagement pictures here at Los Angeles Union Station and at W Hotel. I will be posting up more wedding and engagement photo adventures soon!

Cheers,
