Beach Day! | Hanny & Monty

Tuesday, August 10th, 2010

It was a perfect day in Santa Monica where the sun and everyone else enjoyed their day-off lounging about at the beach with their family and friends! Hanny and Monty, who were from Germany, also flew down to visit family and bask in the warm sun rays. This lovely couple originally met each other at a jazz club in Germany. Whether it was the ambiance, jazz music, or Hanny, or a little bit of everything; Monty could not take his eyes off her ever since that memorable night. Hanny and Monty approached me for a fun and stylish engagement photography session during their visit in Los Angeles before they returned to Germany to get married. Danny and I started off the engagement session at 3rd St. Promenade and made our way around Santa Monica jumping from one location to another. Check it out!

F-18 Super Hornet Engagement Photography | Andrea & Troy

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

Since my engagement session with Sandra & Holger , there have been quite a handful of couples who inquired for “themed” engagement photos. Out of all the themes, vintage fighter jets ranks as one of the most popular category; I do not blame them at all. For this engagement session, Troy flies a F-18 Super Hornet as a profession, so he was able to fit right in! Flying a fighter jet that can easily break the sound barrier and dodge bullets is a little too much for my stomach to handle. It is a crazy job, but I commend Troy for his patriotism.

Unfortunately, we did not have access to a F-18 Super Hornet for the photo shoot, but the Air Museum in Palm Springs was more than happy to welcome us to use their beautiful planes. The museum hosts a rare collection of planes dated back from WWl to now. Of all the planes, the blue Corsair and Stearman PT-17 were my favorite!

We were allowed to walk inside the B-17 Flying Fortress to see all the compartments where the fighters once sat and fought.

After we had our fill with fighter planes, we drove around Palms Springs to a very classy resort to conclude our engagement session.

Over and out,

P.S. – For the boys who wonder where Troy got his outfit – Sorry boys, you have to be a U.S. fighter pilot to get one of those snazzy suits.

Red Chair | Aileen & Gregory

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

When I first met Aileen and Greg, we clicked instantly! Their personalities and positive energy filled my studio during our meeting. Aileen has a tendency of singing whenever she gets excited. Apparently, she was excited throughout our meeting, as well as, our engagement photo shoot in Downtown Los Angeles. Who needed a radio when my bride sang then entire time! Aileen and Greg really wanted photographs that synced with the “Roaring 20′s” theme. We started out day at Disney Concert Hall, then wrapped everything up at Los Angeles Union Station. Check out their following engagement photos and let me know if they pulled it off!

Disney Concert Hall
111 South Grand Avenue
Los Angeles, CA 90012-3034
(323) 850-2000

The beautifully crafted red chair in the following photographs was Greg’s anniversary gift to Aileen. How cute is that?!

Normally, photos are taken on the polished side of Disney Concert Hall. We wanted to spice things up, so we also used the backside of the walls where all the foundation poles and metal nets were shown. I thought this added more character in this photo, especially for their theme!

Los Angeles Union Station
800 N. Alameda Street
Los Angeles, CA

Aileen thought it was appropriate to change into a more elegant and simpler outfit to match LA Union Station. =)

…I am always a sucker for bird cage veils.

This was my favorite engagement photo of the day! The sun barely crept through the large glass windows and provided a more dramatic picture for us!

…aww, and one final kiss to conclude our engagement session.

I hope everyone enjoyed these photos as much as I did. Thank you again Greg for the chair and Aileen for the beautiful songs! I will have their wedding photos from Huntington Hyatt posted up shortly.

Cheers,

Shoots and Ladders | Darlene & Justin

Saturday, April 10th, 2010

Every time I drop by Pasadena, I always find some new and fun place to photograph. I had the opportunity to explore more around Pasadena when I photographed Darlene and Justin’s engagement photo session. Justin told me a bit about himself during our engagement shoot. He helped in the filming of the Fast and the Furious movies. Unfortunately I forgot which one he took part in. As for Darlene, her background is still a bit vague. Who knows, maybe she is a secret agent. Enough mystery, time for some engagement pictures!

Westin – Pasadena
191 North Los Robles
Pasadena, CA 91101
Phone: (626) 792-2727

Our first stop was Westin in Pasadena. The tiled walls made such a beautiful backdrop for our photo shoot! Westin is conveniently located across the street of Pasadena City Hall, which we headed to afterward.

My favorite photo of the day. ^_^

Thank you again Darlene and Justin for sharing your day with me. I look forward to your wedding in Summit House , Fullerton!

The Big Apple | Joanne & Brian

Friday, January 22nd, 2010

My life somehow revolves around apples. I like apple juice. I like baking apple pies. I also like playing the board game, Apples to Apples. Of all the places I have visited, a part of me will never leave the Big Apple (New York City…for those who do not know). I take any opportunity to fly back out to New York; whether it is to photograph a wedding or just to visit some familiar faces. As for this trip, Joanne and Brian gave me the pleasure to photograph their engagement session.

I love seeing people with those “Free Hugs” signs. Despite how gloomy a person’s day may be, the simple things in life such as a huge can brighten anyone’s mood.

Brian may not be a sailor from WWll, but he managed to pull this off quite well. =)

I have to give a special thanks to Tiffany (one of my lovely brides) for the help during this engagement session. Thank you Joanne and Brian for the wonderful day. I look forward to seeing how your wedding unfolds!

Since I started this blog entry with apples, it is only courteous to end with a good apple quote. “How you like them apples?” – Matt Damon
