Dance and Games | Tulsi & Mihir – Indian Wedding Day 2

June 21, 2012

Good afternoon Los Angeles,

This next post will be a continuation of Tulsi and Mihir’s 3 day wedding celebration! After day with with the families getting blessed, it was time for both families to gather together and perform another wedding ritual. Aside from traditions, there were many fun games that were played to get the entire crowd of wedding guests to be involved. There was plenty of food for all and after everyone had their fill, they proceeded toward the dance floor and partied the night away.

The Blessings | Tulsi and Mihir – Indian Wedding Day 1

June 20, 2012

Good evening world,

Sunny Los Angeles has been getting hotter by the moment, so I am already expecting my electricity bill to rise even higher since my A/C will be on blast! One the brighter note, beach season and summer weddings are just around the corner and I cannot wait to photograph them all! Camping is also on my “to do” list before the summer ends and Los Angeles goes back to a cold slump again. Talking about cold slumps, Geoff and I photographed Tulsi and Mihir’s three day destination Indian wedding extravaganza over at Fairmont Hotel in San Jose in the middle of winter at New Year’s Eve! When Geoff and I arrived at San Jose the night before the wedding, it snowed on us and the wind was not too friendly either. Either way, we geared up with plenty of undergarments, jackets, and blazing coffee and photographed Tulis and Mihir’s wedding for three days straight! Although this Indian wedding was definitely an endurance trial, but we enjoyed every minute as we took one photo after another! There were so much excitement, laughter, and of course their colorful attire to compliment their personalities from all the wedding guests.

The next few wedding blog entries will be dedicated for Tulsi and Mihir’s destination Indian wedding at Fairmont Hotel, San Jose. Enjoy their wedding photographs starting with day 1!

There is always a new tradition to learn when you are a wedding photographer! I have photographed so many weddings and every new one always has something to learn from. In this wedding tradition, all the females decorated Tulsi with a yellow paste and a red dot on her forehead to signify something special. I apologize in advance, I do not know the correct terminology for the practices in Indian weddings! Anyway, I hope their wedding photos will do the explanation for me. For the readers, if you know the terms for these Indian wedding practices, feel free to share the knowledge!

After Day 1 of Tulsi and Mihir’s wedding concluded for the day, everyone relaxed, enjoyed amazing Indian food, and had henna done by these amazing artists! These artists were not only detailed, but extremely fast. I could not help but take so many amazing photos for their masterpieces from beginning to end.

Cork Toss | Olivia & Tim

April 2, 2012

Good afternoon!

Today’s wedding blog entry is going to be a really long one filled with lots of wedding photos! This was a rather special wedding in Mission Viejo (Orange County), especially since these two were good friends of my previous wedding couple Stephanie and George who hosted their wedding at Langham in Pasadena. Danny and I started our day bright and early at Fairmont Hotel in Newport Beach where we captured Olivia and her girls getting ready before their traditional tea ceremony to respect their elders and to have her parents’ blessing. While Olivia finished her final touches on her traditional Chinese wedding dress, we hung outside with Tim and photographed the the obstacles he had to do before entering Olivia’s room where her parents waited patiently. After all the fun and games were over, Olivia and her parents shared a touching moment as she bid farewell after their tea ceremony.

After all the fond moments shared at their Fairmont suite, they paraded to Tim’s house where his parents also patiently waited to offer their blessings to both Olivia and their son. There was so much love that filled the room and each shot was picture perfect! With one event after another, Olivia and Tim had a short break to relax in their room away from all the hustle and bustle. While Tim relaxed and organized with his wedding party the final touches to their schedule, Olivia jumped into her amazing wedding dress with the help of her bridesmaids. Once Olivia’s wedding dress was tied, laced, and fitted to perfection, we all headed towards Arroyo Trabuco Golf Course in Mission Viejo (Orange County) for their grand wedding ceremony! Enjoy their wedding photos.

With a bit of time to spare before the wedding ceremony, we took the wedding part out around the golf course for their wedding photography session. After we wrapped up the wedding party, we finished up Olivia and Tim’s wedding portrait session on the outskirts of the property.

After the wedding ceremony was over, the wedding guests were all served with wine, cheese, and live music to set the mood before the reception. Once all the wedding guests were situated in their designated seats, Oliva and Tim set the night with an amazing dance routine and followed by dancing with their parents.

After all the speeches and toasts, Olivia and Tim had a fun game for all the wedding guests to participate in. They had a handful of corks they saved up in the past, but one had their name on it. Whoever caught the lucky cork won a prize! With the crowd that fought for that lucky cork, the wedding photograph taken was definitely worthy of concluding the story of their wedding here at Arroyo Trabuco Golf Course.

Congratulations again to the both of you, Olivia and Tim. It was definitely a real pleasure to be your wedding photographers.

Let Us Wine and Dine | Patricia & Fred

March 26, 2012

For all the residence in Los Angeles, I hope you all are staying warm and dry indoors while we experience these random showers the past few weeks. On the flip side, our cars get a really good scrub down! Today finally cleared up much better than the past few days and the sun is finally peaking out. Today in Los Angeles is just as beautiful as when Danny and I photographed Patricia and Fred’s wedding at Palm Event Winery in Pleasanton, CA. Time seemed to fly so fast that I felt like it was only recently when they engagement photography session was photographed in Santa Monica. It was a rather interesting wedding since this was our first time photographing a wedding in an actual winery. The atmosphere of the location was definitely an experience to say the least, especially with all the romantic locations we used for their wedding photography session.

Patricia and Fred started their day bright and early at their own designated hotel suites with their entourage. While the ladies prepped up, Danny and I photographed the boys “bro-ing” while Fred added his final touches to his attire and his wedding vows. One of the coolest mindset for these two for their wedding was “whatever happens, just have fun!” I believe that every wedding should be like this; of course with a few guidelines to keep everything organized. The main purpose of a wedding is to have fun and enjoy the celebration with friends and family. Just leave the worrying to your designated wedding vendors! Since Patricia and Fred wanted to mingle with their loved ones right after their wedding ceremony, we started their wedding portrait session right after their preparations were done. There were so many different scenery at the winery for amazing wedding photographs. Of course to spice things up a notch, Danny and I carried a huge couch for about half a mile into the vineyards for a select handful of wedding pictures. The work out was intense, but the final outcome of their wedding photographs at the vineyard was definitely worth the trek! Now sit back, relax, and enjoy their show!

After the wedding party were ready for their wedding portrait session, we first headed to the brick wall right behind their actual wedding site indoors. I am always a sucker for brick walls and wild shrubbery around it.

After the wedding party warmed up with some fun and simple photos, we made the trip into the vineyards along with the couch we “borrowed” from one of the suites. The brown couch was a perfect contrast in color and complimented nature’s greenery quite well in the following wedding photographs of the wedding party and of just Patricia and Fred.

After we wrapped up their wedding portrait session, they took a quick break before they walked down the aisle and sealed the deal! The wedding hall at the winery was awesome with the wall of wine barrels as a nice addition to their wedding winery theme.

While all the wedding guests mingled and shared the love with the newly weds, a delicious dessert and cake table was set up for the wedding guests to enjoy after their main courses. Of course, we caught a few wedding guests pick at the dessert table before salad was even served! I suppose some people like to live in the wild side and start with the sweets beforehand.

pleasanton destination wedding photography

After all the wedding guests settled down and found their designated tables, Patricia and Fred made their grand entrance and kick started their reception with an amazing first dance! After the grand performance, there were multiple speeches and hilarious stories shared by their family and friends. Another memorable moment of the night was when Patricia changed to a tasteful red evening gown and had her father and daughter dance together while Fred danced with his mother. After all the formalities were done, everyone partied hard all through the night!

Let’s Go Camping! | Jessica & Max

December 29, 2011

I always get excited every time someone mentions a camping trip. It brings back memories when I used to be a Boy Scout and ran around the woods. Plus, the change of scenery from the city is always a breath of fresh air. Jessica and Max are two high adventure lovers who would rather escape in the woods more than anything. What better way of hosting their destination wedding than in a forest! Jessica and Max hosted their destination wedding at a beautiful venue in the deep forest of Idyllwild. The ironic thing about this wedding was that prior to their preparations, they each took a brisk 10+ mile hike! Once the two of them returned from their short adventure, Danny and I started their photography session. Simplicity was what they aimed for in this wedding, which they planned successfully. Jessica and her ladies handmade all the details for the wedding from the center pieces to the actual napkins and tablecloths! That was definitely a nice touch for this wedding. Their destination wedding in Idyllwild consisted of only the closest of family and friends (about 30 in total). Enough details, check out their wedding photographs from Idyllwild!

I thought this shirt said so much about these two, so I just had to include this photograph in their wedding. Jessica and Max both got their PhD in physics. Another unique part of this wedding was that Max wore a kilt to represent his Scottish side. Either way, that made their wedding photography session so much more unique.

With some spare time before the reception, Jessica and Max had their wedding photography session taken with all the greens and nature for us to use at our leisure. Our wedding photography session was a brisk hike around the hillside and a short hop around a couple streams. =)

While Jessica and Max were out for their wedding photography session, their wedding guests had plenty of games to play while they waited for their food! When was the last time you played bean bags?!

While the wedding guests all sat down and enjoyed a home cooked meal provided by this lovely venue, Jessica and Max made a wonderful speech and thanked everyone for their journey up the mountain to their intimate destination wedding.

destination idyllwild wedding photography

For their adventurous honeymoon, they planned to conquer Mt. Whitney (a mountain that defeated my friends and me a couple years back) to kick start their lovely marriage. As a present from their wedding guests, they made a flag to mount once they reach the summit. Good luck on that battle!

destination idyllwild wedding photography

To wrap up this destination wedding photography blog, I thought this photo during the wedding reception was a nice touch. Although Max is fearless in any high adventure, he somehow has a fear of babies. The impression on both Jessica and Max’s faces were priceless. I actually have a large printout of this wedding photo mounted on the wall of my studio to share with all my visitors.

Congratulations again to the both of you. Good luck on your conquest to Mt. Whitney because you will need it! It was definitely a pleasure to be your wedding photographers.

Cheers,

P.S. – Since Danny and I were up in the mountains, we sat outside and enjoyed the entire blanket of stars after we clocked out. It would have made an amazing photo…but I was too lazy to take my camera out of the trunk.
