US Grant Wedding Photography | Kristina & Grant

December 27, 2011

I hope everyone’s holiday went well and you all were able to spend time with family and friends! Aside from receiving an awesome coffee maker from my Secret Santa, I spent the bulk of my holiday with friends, family, and cooking. =)

Kristina and Grant’s wedding brought Danny and me back to San Diego where they hosted their grand wedding at US Grant Hotel located in the heard of San Diego. Since these two love birds are both naval officers, their itinerary were in military time and they were on time for everything! Grant and his boys started their morning early at Vince’s barber shop for a nice straight razor shave. Fortunately, the Farmer’s Market was less than a block away, so Grant and his wedding party got some fresh orange juice and breakfast burritos! These spur of the moments in between the wedding events make the greatest photos!

While the Grant and his boys prepped up for the wedding, Kristina and her ladies were at a local salon getting their groove on. Kristina chose blue as her eye shadow to represent the Navy. I thought it was a really nice little detail in their wedding and definitely in their wedding photos.

I stole one of their cupcakes that was meant for their wedding cake table for this wedding ring photo. I am sure they did not mind. =P

Since Kristina was ready a bit ahead of schedule, we photographed a couple solos of Kristina during her wedding portrait session at US Grant Hotel.

Grant and the boys took a quick drive to the nearby church right next to US Grant Hotel for their wedding ceremony. It was a beautiful church filled with all their family and friends. Best of all, they got the military salute with all the sabers after they concluded the wedding ceremony! It made such an awesome wedding photo!

Instead of driving back to US Grant for the reception, the fresh San Diego air was nice enough for the entire wedding party to stroll down a few blocks to the venue. We took so many fun wedding pictures along the way from the church to US Grant Hotel.

After we finished the wedding party’s photography session, I concentrated on just Kristina and Grant at a local Museum that offered beautiful architecture for their wedding pictures.

Once Kristina and Grant made their grand entrance at US Grant Hotel, the party just rocked on all night long! An awesome side note was they used their saber to cut their wedding cake. Who needs a cake knife when you walk around w/ a sword, right? =D

It was time to conclude the night, so all the guests lined up to see these two love birds off on their grand exit from the venue.

Present Your Colors | Andrea & Troy

November 2, 2011

I normally do not have a fear of flying, but the tiny plane that Danny and I took to Lake Tahoe was so small and shook like a salt shaker (borrowed that line from Ying Yang Twins)! After the tiny plane landed safely on the tar mat, we gathered our equipment and took the scenic route to Lake Tahoe for Andrea and Troy’s lovely little wedding. On a side note as we drove to the location of the wedding, since it was a summer wedding, Danny and I looked a bit out of place since we wore dress attire while everyone around us ran around in board shorts and swimming trunks.

One of Troy’s family friends was generous enough lend out his lake house for the wedding. The coolest thing about this lake house was that there were four secret passage ways that will lead to secret rooms! We only managed to find one of the passage ways, but it was still really sweet. Enough going off on different tangents, check out Andrea and Troy’s wonderful Lake Tahoe wedding!

That is one pretty wedding ring!

I dig the hairdo! This boy was the ring bearer. He was dressed in U.S. Airforce attire to compliment the groom and his entourage of fighter pilots.

Aside from Troy, this gentleman was the most interesting man of the night. He had stories after stories about his life adventures. He was actually a good friend of the famous photographer, Ansel Adams! They actually met when Ansel Adams came in to get his taxes done. After that day, they were best of friends.

The sweet thing about this wedding was that it took place on July 3rd, so there was a firework show at midnight! Congratulations, Andrea and Troy!

Spring Break in Cancun! | Sue & Armando

December 14, 2010

It has been a year since my last wedding in Cancun with Tiffany and Ly when I came back again to photograph Sue and Armando’s wedding! The warm breeze and the turquoise colored ocean is a perfect setting for any event. I met Sue and Armando for the first time in Orange County and our chemistry worked out swimmingly. During our conversation, they mentioned that they always wanted a destination wedding and Cancun was on the top of their list. This happy couple, joined with 26 of their closest family and friends, all flew out to celebrate this joyous occasion. Enjoy!

Sue had everything packed for this wedding trip except her garter! Fortunately, Armando’s mother improvised and made one on the spot. I had to admit, she did a pretty nifty job making one on the fly.

After the wedding, Danny and I took a trip around Cancun to check out the Mayan ruins. Just like any tourist, we had to take a photo in front of some monument. As for this one, it is one of the most famous Mayan temples in Cancun. As crazy as it sounds, the temple is also an extremely accurate calendar and much more!

This Calls for Cigars | Pamela & Tim

October 18, 2010

It was a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Santa Monica where Pamela and Tim decided to host their wedding. For all those who live in Los Angeles, a beautiful afternoon in Santa Monica does not only relate to the weather, but it also means no traffic on 10 and 405 freeway!!! Throughout the entire wedding, there were so many different cultures that were contributed to this beautiful event. I personally have to say that the best addition were the live mariachi bands that played throughout the entire reception. I am such a sucker for live bands, so this might be a bias opinion. =)

Pamela and Tim started their wedding with their preparation at Hotel Angelino. Since they dressed up at the same location and were not to see each other until the ceremony, I was quite entertained as I watched their entourage patrol the hallways and elevators. Get comfortable everyone, this is going to be a long wedding blog. There were too many fun filled photos that I cannot omit!

Pamela and Tim provided each member of the wedding party an “emergency wedding box,” which consisted of the following items:

– Tylenol
– Water
– Redbull (gives you wings!)
– Double Mint chewing gum
– Cheetos

Sing Your Heart Out | Aileen & Gregory

May 24, 2010

It sure has been a while since I have posted my last adventure as a wedding photographer. I apologize for the delays, but I will make it up with some pretty pictures! As for my first post, this wedding took place during the end of December of last year. Yes, I have not blogged any weddings for that long. Of course my couples all received their wedding albums, so do not worry! I just prefer to take my time writing something thoughtful about each event. =)

It was a beautiful winter day when Aileen and Gregory finally tied the knot at Huntington Hyatt. Danny and I started our day with Aileen’s bridal preparations. During our stay in her suite, she provided everyone with music by singing at the top of her lungs. For those who have not read the blog about their engagement session, Aileen will sing lively chords whenever she is excited and happy. Anyway, without further ado, I present to you my singing bride and groom!

Brides always and should get extra perks for their weddings. In this case, Aileen got a classy Rolls Royce with a chauffeur. Poor Gregory had to drive himself. Who said that chivalry is dead? I beg to differ. ^_^

huntington hyatt wedding photography

It is always a touching moment of the wedding ceremony when a mom escorts her daughter down the aisle.

huntington hyatt wedding photography

Fortunately, the weather was to our favor, especially during the winter. Throughout the wedding ceremony, the sun and ocean provided a warm breeze for all the wedding guests.

…I still wonder what people do with that jar of sand after the wedding. =P

At last, the kiss that sealed the deal!

During cocktail hour, Aileen and Gregory let their guests mingle while we went off to take some portraits. As you can tell from the next photograph, they were faster runners than Danny and me.

Check out that wedding cake! This cake matched the theme and season perfectly. This beautiful cake was not only for aesthetics…it was so delicious! Gregory knew that I love wedding cakes, so he let me have the first choice of slices. The top tier was carrot cake, middle was red velvet, and the base was chocolate.

After the formalities were out of the way, Aileen threw on the red chucks to get the party started!

Thank you Aileen and Gregory for the wonderful memories. Aileen, sing to your heart’s content forever!
