It’s Elementary, My Dear | Ann & Don

December 10, 2013

Hello all,

This next wedding blog is sweeter than usual. This lovely pair have known each other since elementary school and did not date until they were both in college. Ann was actually my first friend that I made during UCLA orientation. She was kind enough to introduce herself during that time and we all kicked it off nicely after that. It was not long after we all graduated college that Ann and Don dropped a line and broke in the big news about their wedding. It was definitely an honor to be not only her wedding photographer, but attend as a friend.

Ann and Don kick started their morning bright and early for the traditional Vietnamese wedding tea ceremony where both families were greeted and were given tea for their blessings. With everyone in their traditional Vietnamese wedding outfits, the room was filled with so much color along with laughter. Every wedding photo during this tea ceremony was a sure money shot! Once the tea ceremony concluded for both families, everyone headed their way to The Villa in Orange County for their next ceremony where all the friends and family eagerly waited. Ann beautifully walked down the aisle and all eyes were on her, especially Don’s. The wedding ceremony was short and sweet along with a few tears in between. Once everything was concluded, everyone just mingled, partied, and danced the rest of the night. A nice little surprise that Ann and Don had for their wedding guests was once the reception started, they had lion dancers perform to get everyone pumped and ready to party! Check out their quick wedding gallery below and enjoy the show.

Summer Love | Amber & Mike

October 30, 2013

It was a beautiful sunny summer day in Long Beach when my lovely couple, Amber and Mike, tied the knot! Since they were locals in Long Beach, it was more sentimental for them to host their wedding on the beach. What was really intimate about this wedding was that everything was hosted at the beach a block away from their house and the wedding reception was hosted at their backyard. Something about backyard weddings make things so sweet. I suppose it is because almost everything about their wedding was hand crafted with love and thought.

Amber and her girls woke up bright and early to get their hair and makeup done while Mike and the boys hurried up and finalized the last bit of the wedding details. Since the wedding was at the beach, the cool breeze rolled in which was nice and a bit of a challenge for the alter to stay in place. The alter actually blew down a couple times before we totally anchored it down and knotted every pillar! Wilson and I lent a helping hand and secured the alter with the boys after we wrapped up the photos with the girls. I suppose being an Eagle Scout came in handy with the knots and staking the alter to the sand! Check it out.

The day cannot get any better than this! The sky was blue and not a cloud in sight. There were so many smiles and the love was abundant. Even though this was a wedding, everyone ran around all over the beach in their best dressed outfits!

Since the day was so beautiful, we took Amber and Mike around the beach for some wedding photographs of just the two of them. After running and jumping all over the place, we somehow wrapped up the wedding photography session up on a tree. Don’t ask how that happened.

Calamigos Ranch Wedding | Sabrina & Will

September 11, 2013

It has been over a year since my good friend, Sabrian and William, tied the knot over at Calamigos Ranch in Malibu and I still remember all the fond moments and hilarious outtakes that happened at his wedding! To get a good idea, some of the outtakes were a bit too much to be included into their wedding photo gallery. To kick start their day, everyone relaxed over at Hyatt Hotel where the girls booked a couple suites for the extra space, while the boys were given only one room. Especially in weddings, the ladies deserve better treatment than the boys. For this summer wedding, Sabrina and Will wanted to add a bit extra color to the already colorful wedding venue at Calamigos Ranch with vibrant parasols for each of the bridesmaids to shade themselves from the sun. After the wedding party were prepped up and gathered at Calamigos Ranch for Sabrina and Will’s “first glace,” we ran all over the wedding venue for wedding party photos! The Ferris wheel, and merry-go-round complimented the wedding party’s colors perfectly!

It was a touching wedding ceremony at The Cottage Pavilion. I suppose it was an even more touchy ceremony since they are my friends and a handful of my friends were in the wedding party. Once the deal was sealed with a kiss, all their wedding guests were escorted to the reception hall to conclude the rest of the wedding with speeches, drinks, and laughter! Enjoy.

Let It Pour | Ashley & Ray

September 9, 2013

It was a rainy afternoon when Danny, Wilson, and I took a trip down to San Diego to photograph a short and intimate wedding at Darlington House. I must say that I would not have known about this beautiful wedding venue if not for our lovely couple, Ashley and Ray! Darlington House is definitely a hidden gem here in San Diego. Despite the rain, the wedding proceeded as planned and everyone took refuge from the rain inside the warm house until it was time for Ashely to walk down the aisle. The only change in the wedding was just a huge tent top to keep everyone dry during the wedding. Nonetheless, the photographs turned out beautifully.

Ashley and her girls were really good at those DIY arts and crafts details for the wedding, so every little piece of the wedding was rather sentimental for Ashley and Ray. Of all the DIY pieces of the wedding, Ashley’s bouquet had to be the most eye catching (you will see below). There were so many hugs and kisses passed around each family member and friends after the wedding ceremony concluded. All in all, their wedding wrapped up from preparation to reception in about 4-5 hours; quite impressive in my opinion. Enjoy the show!

Donuts & Sweets | Anh & Koi

July 23, 2013

When it comes to sweets, memories bring me back to our next lovely couple, Anh and Khoi. From morning to night, there were plenty of snacks to go around to make sure their wedding guests were happy and well fed. Our morning started off with donuts from Krispy Kreme and the night ended up with delicious cakes (yes, plural). Phebe and I kick started everything at Anh’s pad where the ladies all got their makeup done while the boys had wrapped up the final wedding details. Once everyone from the wedding party were finished, we raced over to Mile Square Park for some really awesome wedding photos! Throughout the wedding photography session, there were curious little ducks and squirrels that followed us and had a particular liking to one of the groomsmen (see below).

Once Anh and Khoi’s wedding portraits were done, we continued on toward their wedding ceremony! One of my favorite grooms, and now friend, Glenn Lee, officiated the wedding and married these two love birds. After the formalities were over, the party went on from their grand entrance all the way to the end of the night! There were games, dances, and crazy performances that kept everyone at the wedding entertained. Enjoy.
