It was a beautiful summer afternoon when Wilson and I photographed Jessica and Michael’s engagement session in Downtown Los Angeles. Since these two live in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, it is only fitting to host their engagement photography session here. We started off their engagement session in their cozy apartment even when they were getting ready for the photo shoot. The subtle details before the actual shoot made their story a bit more complete. We ran around from the heart of Downtown LA, to the public park nearby, Los Angeles Union Station, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, and wrapped up their engagement photo session at beautiful Hotel Figueroa. This may seem like a lot of locations, but luckily everything was in Downtown LA and was only a few minutes driving distance between each location. The most challenging part was finding parking!

Jessica and Michael wanted something more edgy and a bit of spice in their engagement photos. These two were not traditional at all and wanted their photos to reflect how exciting and fun they are, and I must agree they are definitely interesting characters. Michael requested that his favorite Jeep was to be involved during their edgy engagement photo session; why not, right?! After we left their apartment, we parked his Jeep on a dirt path and lit up our strobes for some really sweet photos! After we wrapped up the edgy engagement photos with their Jeep, Jessica changed into an amazing traditional Chinese dress for our next location at Los Angeles Union Station. I must admit, the choice of her outfit and the era of LA Union Station matched perfectly! Since she was in her beautiful outfit, we chose to add a few extra edgy engagement photos in Chinatown to complete their outfits. Before we concluded the night, these two changed into a more elegant gown and wrapped up our edgy engagement photo session at Hotel Figueroa with some more classic black and white photos.

I hope you all enjoyed their amazing engagement photo session here in Los Angeles. Keep posted and wait for their elegant destination wedding photos from Four Seasons in Santa Barbara!

Cheers,

Movie Hopping | Sabrina & Will

July 22, 2013

Good afternoon everyone,

The weather here in Los Angeles has been rather moody lately. There were a few instances where it was raining here along with a few hazy days. On the brighter note, the sun finally peaked out today and let the warmth back in the city.

This next engagement photography session took place in Pasadena at an old theater. Unfortunately, this theater has been closed down for some time due to safety issues, but it still has a lot of character, especially for our purpose of engagement photos. Danny, Phebe, and I started strong by running around the foyer and lit the engagement session up with a few strobes. Even though this engagement blog entry is just a short preview, but it still looks really sweet! Enjoy the show.

Kickin’ the Leaves | Caroline & Eugene

May 10, 2012

Hello everyone,

Our next crazy photo adventure took us to the Big Apple (Manhattan, New York)! Danny and I spent the weekend for two engagement photography sessions! Once engagement photo session was in the suburbs, while the other photo session took place in the heart of Manhattan, New York! Our friends, Caroline and Eugene, are two love birds who met in college and fell in love at first sight. Danny and I were actually one of the witnesses when they got married at City Hall to make things official before their grand wedding with everyone else a few months afterward; it was such a touching moment. Anyway, after the paperwork was signed and wrapped up, we wasted no time to start their engagement photography session! After the long scenic route across New York, we ended at a park sentimental to them to start their pictures! With the Fall season during this photo session, the leaves displayed all their vibrant yellows, reds, and oranges!!! Of course since we all have mutual friends, our buds all tagged along and photo-bombed a handful of pictures…we totally encouraged it.

After we finished kicking leaves at the park, we cruised around the city for donuts and coffee. Sorry, no photos of our donuts, but we did get some fun pictures of our crew.

Modern Rome! Engagement | Tiffany & Ly

August 25, 2008

Good morning!

Two weeks ago, Doug and I went to New York City to photograph a lovely couple – Tiffany and Ly. Their wedding will be held in Cancun, Mexico next year! We started our session in Central Park where they wanted more romantic pictures. Afterwards, Tiffany and Ly wanted some edgier pictures in the urban Manhattan, New York.

Central Park and Manhattan were full of photography opportunities! We really didn’t have to even to think of cool places to shoot. Turn the corner and there would be another spot! 🙂

When we were leaving Central Park, we ran into a really good singer. We asked Tiffany and Ly if they would like to dance for a few minutes.

Once exiting the subway in SOHO (New York City), we saw a discarded office chair on the sidewalk. Doug and I looked at each other and grinned. 🙂 Making sure that it was safe to sit on, we planted the office chair in the middle of the busy sidewalk. We asked Tiffany and Ly to hold still while we dragged the shutter so that the pedestrians will have a nice motion blur.

The following image is one of our favorites! We couldn’t have left NYC without taking a high fashion picture with the urban grunge of New York City (SOHO). We absolutely love the cobble stone street and the various colors in the background. If you look at the bottom left corner, there were a number of cooks and servers loitering outside because they were on break. We used them in the following picture!

The staff was a little shy at first, but after much encouraging, we got them to line up for a picture. It was well worth it!

Good bye New York! We always <3 it there. Our cousins and many friends (including Parris Whittingham - a photographer) reside in that area. I will make a post on our random adventures with Parris and our dear cousins in another post. Thank you Tiffany and Ly for being such graceful subjects! We look forward to working with you in Cancun (Mexico) next year!!! Cheers, Lawrence - Contact Me!

P.S. Tiffany – Doug still remembers that you will hook him up with a girlfriend ;D
