There are ups and downs when the rain pours on you during an engagement shoot, but usually there are more ups than down. If it is the other way around, that means the engagement session will come to an end and there will not be any pictures, right? Fortunately, Cindy and Jerome enjoyed the rain as much as I did and made the best of our day. Luck was on our side since we only faced sporadic rain clouds. We started our engagement photo session at Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles and concluded at Old Town Pasadena…in Pasadena (haha, get it?). Enough of my dry humor in such a wet weather, here are a few clips of Cindy and Jerome’s performance in the rain.

We tried to stay nice and toasty inside the concert hall before battling the rain. This was actually my first time inside the concert hall, which was quite refreshing. The architecture of the interior is definitely one of a kind.

After the rain clouds took a short breather, we ran outside and took as many pictures as we can before the next wave of clouds arrived!

We took a quick detour to Los Angeles Union Station before our final destination at Old Town Pasadena. I must say that the detour was worthwhile!

Oh, what fun will an engagement session be if we cannot break a few rules? Since the street was nice and clear, we got ourselves a clean shot in the middle of the street! This is definitely one for the records.

Since this engagement photo session took place during Halloween (yes, that means I procrastinate on my blog posts), we took a more “grim and artsy” photo. I hope we pulled that feeling off in the following picture.

Thank you Cindy and Jerome for being such a great sport despite the rainy day. Sitting home in the rain is just too dull and boring for me.

Hello,

Renee and Glenn and two super fun people. During our initial meeting, they were even goofing around while we were talking business. I cannot help but laugh with them! Renee and Glenn conducted their engagement session in Old Town Pasadena (Los Angeles). Since Los Angeles is mostly concrete, Pasadena is a real gem since the area is built mostly with bricks.

Before five minutes even passed into our session, we ran into some cool street musicians! One had a rustic guitar and the other had a harmonica. Renee and Glenn practiced their first dance on the sidewalk, which was fun to photograph and fun to watch.

Afterward, we asked if we could borrow the guitar so that Glenn could be a rock star for a few minutes.

We found this kitchen alley to be so cool. It reminded me of SOHO in New York.

Hello,

While Lawrence was away in Sacramento, I had the pleasure of photographing a fun couple in Pasadena. Their wedding will be next year in Georgia. Amy and Jay thought it would be fun to get some engagement pictures before the big day! We started our day in Old Town Pasadena and walked around aimlessly.

This fountain provided two things – a cool place to take pictures and temporary relief from the heat

Good morning,

It almost seems [and quite possibly] months since we last posted. Again, it is due to the many projects that we are trying to work on, which will be unveiled very soon! In addition to other work, I have been trying to get this new blog out. This is my first time using WordPress. It has some awesome tools, but alas, I am not literate in php at all. Nevertheless, I think this is something that is not too hard to tackle as long as I give it more time.

Over the past few weeks, we have had the opportunity to photograph many engagements and a couple of weddings, which we are anxious to deploy on the blog. However, due to SEO (Search Engine Optimization) purposes, we will only post about four at a time until Google has thoroughly crawled through our website.

Today’s candidates are Christina and Vee! The two of them have such warm smiles! Doug and I had an awesome time photographing their engagement at Old Town Pasadena. We explored the streets of Pasadena and even entered a construction site where we snagged some wickedly cool pictures. The following picture is where we started our engagement session (Pasadena City Hall):

Afterwards, we headed over to the awesome Container Store! This store has the coolest – you guessed it – containers! They come in all colors, sizes, brands, etc. While shopping around, Vee sprang from his cart!

Inside the Container Store, there is a place where associates can show customers how to assemble certain containers, such as cabinets or something. Not all items come assembled. Given the opportunity with the following sign, I could not resist!

Nearly getting caught messing around inside the store, we decided to explore another part of Pasadena. We stopped by the friendly Johnny Rockets where we have built a nice relationship with the people working there. (Always keep a good rapport with everyone!)

Once they finished their chocolate malt and we finished our sodas, we found some cones and the rest was history…

Since Christina and Vee liked a pose from our previous engagement session also taken at Old Town Pasadena, we tried our best to mimic everything.

After a couple of fun hours with Christina and Vee, we decided to start winding down to our parking structure. Along the way, we found a rustic building under construction. Not wanting to waste this opportunity, I hopped inside to ask for permission. The people were so gracious to let us photograph despite all of the debris.

In this image, we used the ladder as a natural frame to put more emphasis on the subjects.

Looking back at the pictures, I miss the overcast weather. Now it is almost unbearably hot. Since our office is on the third floor, the heat just likes crowd up in our room. Even with central air, it is almost useless.
