Silver Linings | Elise & William

January 28, 2017
wedding photographer orange county

California in the recent weeks had a fair share of rain. I hope everyone managed to get around safely during the storms. Rain during this season reminded me of a wedding we had photographed a couple years ago with almost the same scenario.

This upcoming wedding post held a special place in my heart. The man of that hour, William, has ventured off with me in almost all my crazy ideas since we were kids and what an adventure we had! He was there for all the good times and never hesitated to be there during the times that mattered most. For a man like him, he deserved only the best. In this case, he ended up with Elise – the best and the weirdest. All their similarities and differences complimented each other rather nicely. In other words, their lives were various puzzle pieces that fit together to present itself as something beautiful.

It has definitely been a while since my last wedding blog entry and it is good to pick up where I left off, even if I am about 2 1/2 years worth of wedding and engagement photography events behind! The past few years has taken off quite nicely with all the photo shoots and plenty of happy memories. With all these amazing wedding and engagements that we have photographed in the past, it is great to finally share their stories with you. Bear with me for a while, there will be a lot of updating coming soon. With a clear calendar today and fresh coffee brewing, let us rock n’ roll starting with Sharon and John’s wedding hosted at Rancho Las Lomas in Orange County!

It’s Elementary, My Dear | Ann & Don

December 10, 2013

Hello all,

This next wedding blog is sweeter than usual. This lovely pair have known each other since elementary school and did not date until they were both in college. Ann was actually my first friend that I made during UCLA orientation. She was kind enough to introduce herself during that time and we all kicked it off nicely after that. It was not long after we all graduated college that Ann and Don dropped a line and broke in the big news about their wedding. It was definitely an honor to be not only her wedding photographer, but attend as a friend.

Ann and Don kick started their morning bright and early for the traditional Vietnamese wedding tea ceremony where both families were greeted and were given tea for their blessings. With everyone in their traditional Vietnamese wedding outfits, the room was filled with so much color along with laughter. Every wedding photo during this tea ceremony was a sure money shot! Once the tea ceremony concluded for both families, everyone headed their way to The Villa in Orange County for their next ceremony where all the friends and family eagerly waited. Ann beautifully walked down the aisle and all eyes were on her, especially Don’s. The wedding ceremony was short and sweet along with a few tears in between. Once everything was concluded, everyone just mingled, partied, and danced the rest of the night. A nice little surprise that Ann and Don had for their wedding guests was once the reception started, they had lion dancers perform to get everyone pumped and ready to party! Check out their quick wedding gallery below and enjoy the show.

Westridge Wedding Photography | Thuy & Tony

September 13, 2013

Our next wedding couple, Thuy & Tony, is one hilarious pair. I remembered when I first met these two love birds, it was one laughter after another. Now when their wedding came around, they had little subtle jokes throughout the day. To kick start everyone’s smiles, normally, weddings couples have flowers or some form of decoration around their car. In this case, Thuy and Tony hung a plaque of two wooden doves that said,”Game Over” engraved on the sign. One the other sign, it said,”Ball and Chain” and so forth. Each car in the wedding entourage had a funny and playful quote that put a smile even on the most conservative aunts and uncles. Thuy and Tony woke up bright and early for the tea ceremonies in each household to honor their parents and elders. During these tea ceremonies, it can get quite lively to say the least. There was a lot of cheering, chatting, and laughter in the background during the ceremony. With each passing of the tea cups to each respected family member, they each shed a piece of advice for a good marriage. In a nutshell, just listen to whatever your wife tells you and everything will be okay!

Once all the craziness settled down after the tea ceremony, Thuy and Tony changed wardrobe for their civil wedding ceremony over at Westridge Golf Course. While Thuy and the gals retouched their makeup and helped Thuy jump into her wedding dress, Phebe and I managed a few minutes with the boys to start off their wedding photography session. Although we only had a few minutes at the hotel while the girls got ready, their wedding photos turned out really awesome! Once everyone was all ready to roll out, we met up at Laguna Lake Park for a full on wedding photography session. We hurried up and fired away since it was blazing out that summer afternoon. We did not want our wedding party to stay out more than is needed. With the incentive to be able to jump back into their cars with the air conditioner on high, everyone ran around and took all their wedding photos and retreated back into their cars while we took Thuy and Tony around the park for some wedding portraits of just the both of them.

Before the wedding ceremony commenced, mother nature gave us a bit of a break as the weather cooled down a notch and the trees shaded the rest of the wedding guests as they sat patiently for the wedding party to make their appearance. The wedding party choreographed how they walked or danced down the aisle. As they performed down the aisle, all the wedding guests cheered them on and our lovely couple sealed the dance with a quick dip and a kiss. Once their intimate wedding ceremony concluded, champagne bottles popped and horderves were served while Thuy and Tony mingled with everyone. The party continued throughout the night from cocktail hour to the end of the reception. There were fun activities, games, and the DJ threw a sick beat as everyone danced the night away. Enjoy.

Hello Yamashiro!

July 13, 2013

Good afternoon everyone!

I hope everyone here in Los Angeles and Orange County found shelter and have a nice cold drink to compliment this extreme heat in the valley.

This next wedding entry took be back to Yamashiro back in Hollywood! It has definitely been a while since my last wedding at Yamashiro with Danny. Nonetheless, it is always a real treat to come back up here for any joyous occasion! Aside from photographing weddings and events here, the perks about working here is the grand view of Hollywood and the Los Angeles at night. For this wedding at Yamashiro, we not only photographed the wedding, but the images were also used for Yamashiro to showcase their venue to future wedding clients. Check it out.

For those who are touring Hollywood or are actual locals in Los Angeles County and have not visited Yamashiro, I would definitely encourage everyone to swing on by for some good Japanese cuisines. After dinner, you can walk off your food in their gardens and enjoy the night lights from the top of the hill!

Cheers,
