Diaper Deal | Linh & Steve

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Hi peeps,

Yes, I lag in blogging. On the bright side, I am so so so close to launching my new project! Stay tuned, seriously.

Anyway, Steve and Linh recently graced me with the opportunity to photograph their wedding at Rancho Sol Del Pacifico, which is a breathtaking private estate on the cliffs of Malibu (Los Angeles). The owners of the property – Al and Barbara Rotter – were super cool to work with. What I loved the most about Rancho Sol Del Pacifico were the animals! There were cats, dogs, more dogs, and more dogs!

Warm thank you to Angel for coordinating the event – awesome job! Brides – check her out!

Steve and Linh are from Atlanta, Georgia. They wanted to get married in Los Angeles to take advantage of the sunny weather. Unfortunately, on their wedding day, you guessed it, it rained. Since Rancho Sol Del Pacifico is located so high in the Santa Monica mountains that we were practically in the cloud’s level.

While driving up the untouched Santa Monica Mountains to Rancho Sol Del Pacifico, everyone was greeted with these pleasant ushers in orange (prison?) jackets.

As part of Vietnamese door entry games, the groom is posed with various challenges by the bridesmaids to prove his love and worthiness for his bride. In this particular situation, Steve had to pretend to be a plane!

To prove that he will be a good father, Steve had to wrap a diaper on one of his groomsmen. :S

Once Steve proved his love for Linh, they had a Chinese tea ceremony where the bride and groom serve tea to their friends and family members.

Lastly, Steve and Linh had a Western ceremony. Since it was raining outside, everything was done inside the tent. This young fellow loved to steal the limelight :O

Alas, the rain did not permit us to take advantage of the view, but we made due.

This was the coolest cat in the world! I think his name was Dolce.

The seating arrangement was all pinned onto a cork board. Below each name had a clue that hinted where they will be sitting.

Barbecue and paella for dinner? Yum!

A simple, but timeless wedding cake. Also yum!

Lastly, we took some pictures in near darkness at the driveway of Rancho Sol Del Pacifico. The lights on the palm trees coupled with the fog gave it a mystic look. What were Steve and Linh doing?

BMW | Jennifer and Long

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Hello Everyone,

For the people who do not remember Jennifer and Long, I photographed their engagement sessions not too long ago in Laguna Beach. They finally tied the knot today! Long came over to Jennifer’s house in style. Being in a BMW sports crew, he rolled by with about 20 BMWs just to make a grand entrance.

You have to love the decorations on that car.

They lit the fireworks to officially start the ceremony.

We encountered an unexpected thunderstorm, which threw off our schedule. What I love about weddings is that I get to improvise and have fun doing it. Here is our best man taking one for the team by pulling up a chair in the middle of a parking space in Old Town Monrovia to save a spot for the newly weds.

Not seeing any sign of the rain stopping, we all moved to a parking structure in Pasadena to continue our photo shoot. Fortunately, Pasadena rained sporadically, which gave us windows of time to snap away before the rain came down on us again.

Another great job from All Made Up!

Historical Adamson House | Kiyoko & Chris

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Howdy,

What a totally awesome wedding at Adamson House in Malibu this Sunday. Adamson’s House is a quaint historical site that is now a museum located on the PCH (Pacific Coast Highway).  Anyway, check out the wedding pictures ;D

Kiyoko – the lovely bride – got ready in a rustic pool house in the the Adamson House. She was admiring the donned dress as her maids of honor all helped her tie the back.

Look at this beautiful picture of the bride!

I really like the details on her dress. And I think she did too :)

I know I intentionally blurred the picture, but the flowers were done by Renan from Fleur-de-Lis Flower Couture (626-922-4895). This picture was taken just before the ceremony. She was just beaming with joy!

Kiyoko and Chris held an intimate ceremony with close family and friends. They conducted their ceremony under this grand tree.

Aww their first kiss as husband and wife! I just fired away!

This was just too cute!  I’m glad I snapped this picture,

And yes, that was the beach in the background. Awesome huh? I would eat outdoors everyday if my playground was the Malibu beach.

Dance all Night with Christian Louboutin | Lilly & Chris

Monday, September 29th, 2008

Hidy ho,

What a day! Lilly and Chris were such fun sports – so many stories with so little blogging space. As always, I prefer to let the pictures do the telling for me. Since Doug was photographing a wedding at Japanese Friendship Garden in San Diego, I sought out two trusted friends and totally bitchin’ photographers – Gavin and Greg. Without them, it would have been quite challenging since I had an upset stomach the entire day :X Even Gavin’s emergency “plug up” pills did not alleviate the pressure. Enough, I know.

Lilly got ready at Beverly Hills Hilton. We did their engagement session there a while back.

Anyway, back to the wedding!

For the girls who are fanatics about shoes [and ribbons], check these out! I bet wearing a pair of these shoes will simply make your day. Christian Louboutin silk ribbon red bottom shoes! I was so scared to handle them – no joke!

While Greg and I attended to Lilly, Gavin was with Chris and his dudes. Just a little early celebration smoke.

Finding parking near the Beverly Hills Presbyterian Church was one of the hardest challenges. Aside from that, it was an awesome location and conveniently located on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. There is also a park across the street :)

Afterward, we headed over to Dream Palace in Glendale. The food was good and the music was thumping. Aww it’s their first dance as husband and wife…

Gavin and his powerful strobe gave this image such a wonderful feel.

I thought this picture was really nice, so I had to post it. This was Lilly dancing ever so gracefully even in her heels.

Thank you Lilly and Chris for sharing such a wonderful day with us. On behalf of Gavin and Greg, you two ROCK!

Chinatown Wedding | Alina and Lester

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Hello all,

Alina and Lester had a super long wedding day.  As part of Asian traditions, there are favorable times to have tea ceremonies.  It just so happens that most of our previous ones are in the early morning.  In any event, Alina and Lester braved the challenges and not only had a tea ceremony, they also had a Western ceremony. Wow!

Aren’t these two the cutest trinkets?

chinatown wedding pictures

As part of Asian tea ceremony games, there were challenges posed for the groom before granted entry to retrieve his bride. Such entry bribes include games and money. The following challenge was to get 10 people to honk their vehicles.

This game will be hard to explain…

That is Lester giving up and screaming at the people inside.

The best Best Man ever! Since it was a sweltering day, he was always followed with a towel.

Socks disguised as cupcakes! Furry cupcakes how fun!
