Sweethearts | Lena & Garret

July 24, 2015
los angeles engagement pictures

It is those rare occasions that grade school friends turn sweet hearts and eventually become a sweet married couple. In this story, our dear friends, Lena and Garret, were one of those rare ones. Lena and Garret were friends since high school, each writing their own chapters, and some chapters were stranger than the other. Eventually one fine day, they decided to create a new chapter together and carried on writing their life stories as a pair ever since. When it came time to tie the knot, I obliged by starting off with their engagement photos in Downtown Los Angeles.

It was a beautiful summer afternoon when Wilson and I photographed Jessica and Michael’s engagement session in Downtown Los Angeles. Since these two live in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, it is only fitting to host their engagement photography session here. We started off their engagement session in their cozy apartment even when they were getting ready for the photo shoot. The subtle details before the actual shoot made their story a bit more complete. We ran around from the heart of Downtown LA, to the public park nearby, Los Angeles Union Station, Chinatown, Little Tokyo, and wrapped up their engagement photo session at beautiful Hotel Figueroa. This may seem like a lot of locations, but luckily everything was in Downtown LA and was only a few minutes driving distance between each location. The most challenging part was finding parking!

Jessica and Michael wanted something more edgy and a bit of spice in their engagement photos. These two were not traditional at all and wanted their photos to reflect how exciting and fun they are, and I must agree they are definitely interesting characters. Michael requested that his favorite Jeep was to be involved during their edgy engagement photo session; why not, right?! After we left their apartment, we parked his Jeep on a dirt path and lit up our strobes for some really sweet photos! After we wrapped up the edgy engagement photos with their Jeep, Jessica changed into an amazing traditional Chinese dress for our next location at Los Angeles Union Station. I must admit, the choice of her outfit and the era of LA Union Station matched perfectly! Since she was in her beautiful outfit, we chose to add a few extra edgy engagement photos in Chinatown to complete their outfits. Before we concluded the night, these two changed into a more elegant gown and wrapped up our edgy engagement photo session at Hotel Figueroa with some more classic black and white photos.

I hope you all enjoyed their amazing engagement photo session here in Los Angeles. Keep posted and wait for their elegant destination wedding photos from Four Seasons in Santa Barbara!

Cheers,

Go Bruins! | Tammy & Thomas

December 6, 2011

Good evening everyone,

For those outside of Los Angeles, our fair city was hit hard by Santa Ana winds and a large section of LA was out of power. Luckily, my pad was not affected, so my friends and family camped at my place until their power was restored. It was a rather fun weekend to have so much people stay in my house! Parts of Los Angeles is still under construction, but hopefully everything will be recovered in a timely manner. =)

Tammy and Thomas are two close friends of mine and I was more than happy to photograph their engagement session at UCLA! Tammy and I grew up together since high school and went to the same college, so UCLA was quite sentimental for the both of us. We ran around from Royce Hall to the Sculpture Gardens for their pictures! We then made a pit stop at Santa Monica for lunch and wrapped up our engagement photography session in Downtown Los Angeles at Art District! Sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

Walking on the Rails | Patricia & Christian

November 19, 2010

It was a wonderful day in Sunny Los Angeles where Patricia and Christian had their engagement session done. This spunky couple wanted not only timeless photos, but some edgy photos to the point where we can get kicked out, which we did at one point! Couples who love to get into a bit of trouble fits my profile perfectly. We started our engagement session in the old parts of Los Angeles near Art District where everything is a work of art, even every inch of the walls were paved with amazing arban paint. Afterward, we roamed all over Los Angeles Union Station, Hotel Figueroa, and concluded at Disney Concert Hall. Check it out!

After we had our fun at LA Art District, we went through a few hidden alleys and onto live train tracks! Fortunately, Patricia was very agile with her heels and was not phased by the uneven ground and tracks throughout our photo shoot.

I must say, the bar tenders at Hotel Figueroa made the absolutely BEST mojitos in town. We each splurged a bit on a drink during our break before we continued with our photo shoot inside.

Instead of shooting at the concert hall, why not take the photos to the street?!

Stay tuned and there will be more to come from Patricia and Christian. They plan to host a destination wedding at Cabo San Lucas once the details are set in stone. I cannot wait!!!

Over and out,

Hollywood Engagement Photography | Nina & Tom

October 18, 2010

Hollywood has so much history in terms of the City of Stars, along with all the movie sets and tourist attractions. Tom actually works in the movie industry, so Hollywood was an ideal place for these two love birds to have their engagment pictures taken. We started out at the Kodak Theater and moved along Hollywood strip. It was fortunate that Tom knew his way around secluded areas in Hollywood to avoid the hustle and bustle of the traffic generated from the cars and tourists that populated the streets.

It took a few rounds for this photo. There were too many kids playing in the fountain at the time and stood in front of my camera. I should have taken a few photographs of those kids that danced in front of me. =)

There were many beautiful murals such like this following engagement photo all over the walls of Hollywood. Nina and Tom somehow always took interest in this specific one.

We later drove down a few miles on the outskirts of Hollywood for some peace and quiet in a local park to conclude our engagement photo session.
