Ready, Set, Hike! | Myriam & Fred

August 28, 2014

Good morning and hope everyone’s Thursday is coming along nicely. Just one more day until the weekend again! There are only a few more weekends of summer left, so make the most of it. I actually might have a weekend free to enjoy the beach before everything cools down! If not, there are always plenty of stuff to do in Los Angeles. For our next awesome wedding adventure, we ventured off South toward Long Beach at The Reef. Myriam and Fred are cute and lovable characters. Fred is the head coach for the football team in Pasadena City College, but he is a total teddy bear at heart. Both parties started off their wedding bright and early where Fred and his entourage had a nice morning straight razor shave at a local barber shop in Long Beach, grabbed a drink, and suited up at The Reef. As for Myriam and her ladies, they relaxed the morning away during their makeup and hair session. Once everyone were good to go, we all raced off to The Reef and kicked off their wedding ceremony on the rooftop that overlooked Long Beach Harbor and Queen Mary. With a few sweet exchange of words and sealed everything with a kiss, the real celebration began! During their wedding reception at The Reef, there was an abundance of love, laughter, and plenty of hugs. Sit back and enjoy their wedding photography highlights!

Summer Love | Amber & Mike

October 30, 2013

It was a beautiful sunny summer day in Long Beach when my lovely couple, Amber and Mike, tied the knot! Since they were locals in Long Beach, it was more sentimental for them to host their wedding on the beach. What was really intimate about this wedding was that everything was hosted at the beach a block away from their house and the wedding reception was hosted at their backyard. Something about backyard weddings make things so sweet. I suppose it is because almost everything about their wedding was hand crafted with love and thought.

Amber and her girls woke up bright and early to get their hair and makeup done while Mike and the boys hurried up and finalized the last bit of the wedding details. Since the wedding was at the beach, the cool breeze rolled in which was nice and a bit of a challenge for the alter to stay in place. The alter actually blew down a couple times before we totally anchored it down and knotted every pillar! Wilson and I lent a helping hand and secured the alter with the boys after we wrapped up the photos with the girls. I suppose being an Eagle Scout came in handy with the knots and staking the alter to the sand! Check it out.

The day cannot get any better than this! The sky was blue and not a cloud in sight. There were so many smiles and the love was abundant. Even though this was a wedding, everyone ran around all over the beach in their best dressed outfits!

Since the day was so beautiful, we took Amber and Mike around the beach for some wedding photographs of just the two of them. After running and jumping all over the place, we somehow wrapped up the wedding photography session up on a tree. Don’t ask how that happened.

Japanese Garden Wedding Photography | Christy & Mike

February 6, 2012

Good afternoon, Los Angeles! Forecast states that there will be rain this week in Sunny Los Angeles, which means I get a free car wash! I am tempted to leave a bar of soap on the roof of my car and see if the rain will do the rest of the trick.

It has been a while since Christy and Mike’s engagement photography session in Disneyland. Now it is time to finally post their wedding photos from Long Beach Japanese Gardens! It was a sunny afternoon in Long Beach when Christy and Mike tied the knot at Japanese Gardens in Cal State Long Beach. The cool thing about the wedding location here at Japanese Gardens is that the guests did not sit all at one place since there is a huge pond filled with colorful coy right in the middle of the Garden. There were chairs around each side of the pond where everyone had a perfect view of the wedding procession.

Christy and Mike’s wedding started bright and early at a local hotel where the entire wedding party prepped up and pounded A LOT of coffee to kick start their morning. Since the wedding party all prepared and suited up in one suite, they room was so loud and full of life. This made it extremely easy for my job as their wedding photographer since every photo was so lively…and hilarious! After a few cups of coffee in our system, Danny and I had a ball with the wedding party too! After the makeup artist wrapped up the ladies in the wedding party, she finished off with Mike. I suppose the groom had to look pretty too. I think it was Mike’s first time getting makeup done, so the wedding photograph of him below was priceless. Check it out!

While the wedding party dolled up in their suite, Danny and I took the wedding dress downstairs to the lobby for this cool photo.

If you think a wedding is this painful, just wait until afterward.

Since the boys were ready before the girls, we took a couple wedding portraits of just the guys until the girls were ready for their photo session.

Once the wedding party and their family arrived at Long Beach Japanese Gardens, Mike did some final preparations before he walked down the aisle. With all the guests arrived and anxiously waited for the bride, Christy and her dad walked down the aisle all radiant and beautiful. It is always a touching moment when the father gives away his daughter at the wedding. Christy’s dad gave her the biggest and longest hug before he let go.

After the formalities, Mike sealed the deal with a kiss and wrapped up this beautiful wedding.

With the extra time, we ran around Long Beach for some cool wedding photography session.

After we photographed some cool wedding pictures at Long Beach Japanese Gardens, we headed out to Signal Hill to wrap up their wedding photo session. The first wedding photograph below was just too funny to not post up. Christy tried to look more serious and “cool” for the photo, but ended up looking like she was really angry at Mike. Mike just could not stop laughing once he saw this wedding picture. Sorry Christy, I just had to post this one. =D

“1, 2, 3…JUMP! Okay, let’s do this again, but I need everyone to jump at the same time.”

Once Christy and Mike had their grand entrance, they started off their wedding reception with their first dance.

I must admit that Christy’s father’s speech had to be one of the most memorable speeches in my career as a wedding photographer. He pulled up analogies from Star Wars and Star Trek and tied them all seamlessly with the wedding. He also concluded his speech with the famous quote from Spock,”Live long and prosper.” He also threw up the Vulcan hand symbol too.

Before Danny and I wrapped up the wedding photos here in Long Beach, we coordinated with the DJ and had one epic photograph with everyone who attend the wedding.

Back to Long Beach | Martha & Michael

November 18, 2010

It has been a while since I stepped foot into Ebell in Long Beach! Oh, how I miss it here so much. Danny and I started our day with Martha and the gals dolling themselves up at their favorite salon, while Michael and the boys shaved and jumped into their tuxedos. Of all the wonderful events that happened at Martha and Michael’s wedding, the most memorable event that stuck with me was their invitation. Martha and Michael purposely printed their wedding invitation for the ceremony at Eball to happen an hour before the actual ceremony because they knew that their family and friends always show up late. In this case, everyone showed up right on time before the wedding commenced! Enjoy the show.

Since the wedding ceremony took place after sunset, we lit the entire hall with studio strobes from the second story! Aside from having everything lit, I am a total sucker for dramatic lighting in photos.

Under the Sea | Jenn & Kevin

May 6, 2009

Hello everyone,

Our next adventure takes us to Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach where Jenn and Kevin tied the knot. Jenn and Kevin both prepared themselves at Hyatt Hotel, which is conveniently across the street from Aquarium of the Pacific. We started our day hovering around Jenn while her and the ladies dolled themselves up. I do not know the specific shade of blue Jenn chose for her dress, but it really matched the ocean theme. Grab your swimming trunks…this wedding is going to get a bit wet!

After the ceremony, I took Jenn and Kevin around the Aquarium for their portrait session. Since Aquarium of the Pacific is home for sea animals, our portrait session felt more like a tour than anything else. Of course we managed to pull out some really cool shots!
