Skirball Wedding Photography | Jamie & Joey

It is always great to not only photograph a wedding at a beautiful venue such as Skirball Cultural Center at Santa Monica, but also to be a guest. I suppose I am at an age where my friends are slowly proposing and hosting weddings quite frequently now. One of my dearest friends, Jamie and Joey, finally tied the knot! These two college sweet hearts have dated for some time since college and Joey eventually popped the question after graduation at UCLA! Although they moved back home to Maryland, their hearts and friends are still in California. What better way to host their wedding than over here at Skirball Cultural Center in sunny Santa Monica.

Although even at sunny California, their wedding started off with rain and lots of it! Although the downpour had a few setbacks, this did not dampen their spirits at all. Jamie and her girls started off bright and early at a local salon in Korea Town, Los Angeles with plenty of coffee and donuts to warm themselves up while Joey finished the last of their wedding preparations at Skirball Cultural Center. While the hairspray and makeup session went on, our cameras did not stop clicking away from a distance. Once everyone’s makeup were done, we all headed our way to Skirball Cultural Center to meet up with Joey and the boys for their “first look.” Luckily, shortly before Jamie was all ready in her wedding dress and shoes, the rain retired and the sun popped up just in time! Talk about getting lucky! Once these two love birds met up and checked each other out, Wilson, Phebe, and I immediately started the photography session with the entire wedding party before the ceremony.

Their wedding ceremony was quick, short, and sweet. To top it off, there was a song performed by one of their wedding guests to make things even sweeter! The entire wedding felt like it breezed by so quickly once their reception started. There were exchanges of sweet speeches by their friends and family and finished with Jamie and Joey thanking everyone for participating in their joyous occasion. Enjoy their wedding photos!

UCLA! | Warren & Linco

Hello all!

I rarely post more than one engagement or wedding blog entry a day, but since I mentioned about UCLA in my last entry about my college buddies, Jamie & Joey, I might as well post one quick engagement photography session that took place at UCLA! Warren and Linco were originally from China and visited the states during their vacation. Since they wanted some engagement photos done here, specifically at UCLA, I was honored to fulfill their wish. We started our morning bright and early to avoid the dreaded 405 traffic to UCLA and wrapped up our quick engagement photography session over at Santa Monica Pier.

Strum Me a Song | Lily & Steve

Good evening everyone,

This year has definitely started off rather quickly. I have already gotten my first ticket from the cops and a week has not even ended! Anyway, I thought it was an interesting side note, so there goes my lunch money for the next month. One a brighter note, I finally got around to post up this next engagement photography session that was rather special to me. These two love birds, Lily and Steve, were hilarious from beginning to end. To start off, Steve was extremely nervous before the engagement photo shoot at our first location at Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles), so Lily brought a portable speaker for music…and a bottle of vodka in her purse if he needed to loosen up. Danny and I told them that the engagement photo shoot will be easier than they imagined, so leave the partying until after the photo shoot is over. After 10 minutes of warm up practices, these two were total naturals in front of our camera from beginning to the end of our engagement photo session. We started off from Disney Concert Hall, to various locations in Downtown Los Angeles, and concluded at the pier in Santa Monica. During our photo session in Santa Monica, Steve took our a guitar and serenaded Lily with a few tunes. We fired off a few photos from the distance while they shared the moment together; gave me the warm and fuzzies inside. Mac n’ Cheese | Marci & Faustino

Hello Los Angeles!

Today’s engagement session took us to sunny Santa Monica Pier where I photographed on of my dear friends and classmate from UCLA (University of CA, Los Angeles), Marci and Faustino! Marci and Faustino had a quick break in their busy schedules to fit in their engagement photo session and since they both live in Santa Monica, this place was most suitable for this fun loving couple. The colorful arrangements from the Ferris Wheel and roller coasters added that extra spice to these pictures. We ran around and took photos from the top all the way to the bottom of the pier where we got our feet wet a bit. For you macaroni and cheese lovers, we wrapped up our engagement photo session with a HUGE MACARONI! I hope that macaroni will be a permanent piece at Santa Monica Pier…such a cool tourist attraction. Check out their pictures!

Casa Del Mar Wedding Photography | Nina & Tom

Living in SoCal do have its perks. It is supposed to be winter season and Los Angeles averages around a breezy 83 degrees. Unfortunately, the night can get a bit chilly, but I am settle for the warm afternoons.

Nina and Tom tied the knot at Casa Del Mar in Santa Monica last summer and it was such a lovely wedding! Their wedding photographs were all so priceless, but to save space, I will showcase only the highlights of their wedding photos from Casa Del Mar. It was a bright afternoon in Santa Monica where the streets were crowded with tourists and surfers. Casa Del Mar’s great location on the beach side of Santa Monica gave Nina and Tom a perfect view of the city from their suite. Tom spared no expenses for Nina to be comfortable throughout the wedding from her suite during her preparation to their reception. Since Nina and Tom were not to see each other until their “first glance,” Danny and I hopped around from one location to the other in Casa Del Mar to photograph both Nina and Tom’s parties. While Nina sat comfortably at her suite, we ran around with the boys at Casa Del Mar’s amazing lounge downstairs to start their wedding photography session. Once the full wedding party all joined together, we not only photographed inside Casa Del Mar, but also around the streets of Santa Monica to spice up their wedding photography session!

Through all the running around to take their awesome wedding photos, we made it in time for Nina and Tom to walk down the aisle and get married! Since Nina and Tom come from different cultures, they blended both Indian and Catholic traditions together for their heart-touching wedding ceremony. This was the first time I have seen these two traditions mesh together; it was actually really cool! Once the knot and all the formalities were tied up and settled, their wedding ceremony hall was converted into a sweet reception hall where everyone partied like rockstars! There were a few amazing speeches from the parents and brothers, and of course, an amazing thank you speech from Nina and Tom to all their wedding guests for making their wonderful wedding day so special.
