Halloween is the best season of the year! With the spare time, the boys and I ran all over Los Angeles and Pasadena to photograph our own Halloween themed photo shoot!

Hello everyone,

First of all, Happy Halloween to everyone! In the spirit of this holiday, a few photographers and I roamed all over Los Angeles to take Halloween pictures. We jumped around everywhere including Los Angeles railroad tracks, alleys, and the Los Angeles Art District.  Enjoy!

This location was photographed under the 3rd St. bridge in Downtown Los Angeles.

Kiss wedding books is by far one of the best wedding books I have purchased. Aside from their amazing quality, their services are above and beyond.

Hello,

Just wanted to give a shout out to Kiss Wedding Books for always doing a phenomenal job at printing our flush mount albums. We have used a lot of companies in the past, but decided to switch over to Kiss for their superior print quality, bind, customer service (they check, recheck, triple check your designs before and after print), and super fast turnaround time!

We are so confident about Kiss’ craftsmanship that we recently used them to bind our vendor book for Turnip Rose knowing that lots of people will see it. The Furious Photographers confide in their books’ resilience to withstand the test of time [and brides].

The following are a few pictures of their books!

I was so inspired by Kiss Wedding Books’ motto of simplicity that we are forming a new company soon to cater to these standards. Check back soon for more details ;D See some of our album templates!

Thank you Kiss,

Cheston (my old wedding client) was nice enough to offer his amazing 350Z for one of my small wedding photography workshops for remote lighting. Check out these amazing night photos of his sweet ride!

What a night!

Last night I photographed my friend’s – Cheston aka Chestobot – Nissan 350Z. His vehicle was published in a number of magazines and raced professionally amongst other top import vehicles.

Check out his engagement and wedding pictures ;D Cheston and his wife are so cute! Hi Angie!

This is Cheston on his wedding day doing his famous stoic grandpa pose (we have one framed on our wall):

Gavin – and good friend – assisted us with the shoot (his blog post). A number of other photographers and cronies also rolled up to gawk at the blue monster.

To achieve the above picture, we used two Alienbee strobes and four Canon 580EX II strobes all on remotes! This was the largest lighting setup we have ever done. We would never have this much time on a wedding day.

Look at all of those stickers!

My favorite! Jason (Lil J) and I came up with this idea. We called this the “garage shot” because it looked like a vehicle was pulling out of a garage. To achieve this, we used two powerful strobes to light the front hood, which puts the background a few steps darker, thus blackening everything else.

Oh no! The LAPD! Nah they were pretty chill. They hung out with us for a while! He said that if we ever do photography in LA and run into any trouble with authority, just give him a call. *giddy*

Thanks Cheston and all those who came out!

Peace,

Hello,

For those who attended our second wedding photography workshop – good times! Our goals were to promote learning and community building. We had a total of 25 attendees (I think)! There were so many that it made my humble home look like a zoo of photographers.

Special thanks to the following for making this wedding photography workshop a total success!

Enjoy the pictures from our workshop! Since I do not have everyone’s cards, I will just share a few images from Doug’s camera. Before we begin with images of the hot models, here are some kudos to Peter for introducing the models, Gavin for helping out, and Julie and Angelina from All Made Up!

Doug was trying to show the class that a photographer can shoot in just about any location. This was taken at the stairs in our living room.

Do not deny it, he’s hot!

This goes equal for Megan! Thanks to Gavin for introducing this awesome location to us!

Remember, not all images must include faces as long as viewers clearly know who the subjects are or what they are intending to do.

This one was a tricky picture because Doug intentionally let light leak through to give Megan some nice hair light so proper calibration was crucial.

Shooting in the shade with minimal back lighting is always easy. Therefore, we discussed photographing in situations where lighting might not be as favorable. We had the models stand right in the middle of the street where there was no shade. The pose was simple after I asked a couple of questions. “Is there shadows under my face when looking at the sun?” “Am I squinting? If so, which way do you think might be better?” To compensate for back lighting, we showed them that they can either splash some light onto their faces or overexpose just a little. The following is me making that point.

Picture looks good, right? Keep it simple. As a photographer, we are always not given the best lighting conditions, so be prepared!

Here is some of the 2008 Furious Photographers Workshop class shooting away!

After years of not having a group photo, we took this opportunity to take a picture of the Furious Photographers team. Isn’t this an awesome picture? It was so hot wearing ties and sports coats in the afternoon heat. From left to right, we have Tang, me (Lawrence), Doug, Julie and Greg.

As much as I wanted to have a lesson on remote strobes, there simply was not enough time to cram it into our already packed schedule. After shooting, we returned to our home studio to learn about post-production techniques and marketing strategies.
