Got a Light? | Private Lighting Workshop
Hello readers,
If you arrived on this post, then you have been invited to a private workshop hosted at Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel in Orange County (OC). I got an Ocean View Luxurious Suite for two nights and was entertained with the idea of hosting a lighting workshop. I have been talking about it forever on Tofurious, but never had time to follow through.
Fortunately, Lan Bui, Vu Bui (The Bui Brothers) and Doug (Furious Photographers) were all free to help!
It’s going to be quite interesting to have four lighting experts with potentially separate opinions for “good lighting.”
Check out the room from Ritz Carlton (Laguna Niguel) -

I am not going to tell you how much I actually paid for the room for it will send another series of pangs to my heart/wallet, but it’s over $3,000. We have a super nice location, so might as well make the most of it, right? Workshop.

The styles are different [in a good way], but concepts and skillsets are solid.

Cost: $50 – uh yeah, no brainer – I assure you that there will be no workshop at this price especially from industry leaders teaching it. Or I challenge someone to do so!
$50 | First Come First Served | Limited Seats
I pay $3000 for room, you pay $50 = good deal.
The fee is only to pay for model, makeup, clothes, etc. I will pay for the room, so that’s one less thing to worry about. The goal is to get this lighting project started. Limited seats!
Cheers,
Lawrence
P.S. We might have an after party, so yeah…not all will get to stay – based on number of registrant.

I would love to attend but have 3 weddings this weekend… Please keep me on the list to notify me of any future lighting (or any other) workshops… I suck at lighting and need help. (And am totally broke so this fits the budget nicely as I would have to shell out some serious cash to fly down last minute)

June 2nd, 200911:59 am at
hi Lawrence,
I clicked on the “add to cart” button and it says the product is out of stock, does that mean all spots are already filled?
June 2nd, 200912:49 pm at
So sorry I did not learn about this in time. I appreciate you guys putting this together as a learning opportunity and can’t believe you were so generous about the price. Hopefully I’ll be in the know sooner next time. Have fun!

It appears you’ve reached the limit in a few hours – I received the e-mail notification this AM and tried to reserve a spot at lunch time. If any spots open up I would love to attend – I’m very local (live in LN) and familiar with the entire Ritz and adjoining property.
Thanks – Ernie

I’d LOVE to attend.. i’m always looking for new lighting challenges… too bad Brazil is so far away and so expensive to get there… and 1 day wksp is too short to worth the trip… try to put up a longer one and I might attend.. wish you lots of fun in this one! Cheers Irit

Hey guys! First of all, I want to say that after viewing all your video blogs and photos of all the shoots you’ve done – I AM IN AWE! Awesome, awesome work and talents man! I’ve just began photography the past year and have learned alot through Flickr (my sole education)…and would love to learn more from pros like yourself! So keep me posted if you should have any other workshop – I can GUARANTEE you that I will be there unless I’m in my death bed!
Cheers and keep up the beautiful works guys!
