What Happens in Cancun Stays in Cancun | Tiffany & Ly

Monday, May 25th, 2009

Attention ladies and gentlemen (drum rolls),

It is my absolute pleasure to finally announce that Tiffany and Ly has finally tied the knot. And out of all places, these New Yorkers picked my favorite location – CANCUN, Mexico! For those who do not know who these two are, they are my favorite couple from New York. The links below are their engagement photographs during my stay in Manhattan, New York:

SOHO, Manhattan
Meat Packing District

Their wedding was hosted at Casa Magna Marriott in Cancun. That hotel was immaculate and the food / service were to stellar! Tiffany and Ly had an outside wedding along the beach overlooking the turquoise ocean. Check it out!

Boulevard Kukulcan, Retorno Chac L-41, Zona Hotelera
Cancun, Quintana Roo 77500 Mexico

The following is a same day edit fusion video that the The Bui Brothers helped film and put together for the reception.

Island of the Ladies | Colleen & Hector

Monday, May 25th, 2009

Hola!

Cancun is such a wonderful place to get married! During Spring, Cancun offers a breezy 80 degree weather with low humidity. The best part of Cancun is the unbelievably turquoise ocean that looks like a huge jello bowl!

Colleen and Hector chose their wedding to be hosted at Isla Mujeres – a beautiful island off the coast of Cancun. It was a small and intimate wedding. The location (Vista de la Luz at Isla de la Mujeres) Colleen and Hector selected offered such a spectacular view that I do not even know how to describe it.

Location:
Vista de la Luz – Casa O’s
Isla Mujeres

Is that a view or what?! Colleen and Hector conducted their wedding ceremony on one of those piers alongside the coastline!

I thought it was suitable to use a present box for my wedding ring shot. =)

isla mujeres wedding pictures

I am always a sucker for red wedding shoes!

Ahhhh, the curlers. Getting ready for a wedding is serious business!

Here comes the bride! The pier was just large enough to fit all the wedding attendants…at least everyone got VIP seats. =P

After the wedding ceremony, a mariachi band serenaded Colleen and Hector while they walked back indoors for refreshments.

While the rest of the wedding party enjoyed cocktail hour, the couple snuck out for some sweet wedding pictures together!

These two really knew how to impress! Vista de la Luz of Isla Mujeres was a nice choice. Thank you for all the fond memories. I am grateful to have been your wedding photographer! The very next day, we photographed another wedding – Tiffany and Ly – at Cancun Casa Magna Marriott.

Best wishes,

Historic Hotel | Brienne and Juan

Monday, May 25th, 2009

Greetings viewers,

I had the opportunity to photograph Brienne and Juan’s wedding with Gavin Holt at Castle Green in Pasadena. Castle Green is a real gem in the heart of Old Town Pasadena. Even though the city around it has changed quite a lot, Castle Green still kept its vintage look, which is SUPER COOL! Brienne and Juan were a lovely and funny couple, in which you will see in the follow wedding photographs. =)

We caught a glimpse of the sun rays in this cool shot in front of Castle Green!

The lounge in Castle Green is cool huh? The entire floor downstairs each had its own vintage theme. Whoever designed Castle Green did an amazing job!

…and the boys.

Is that a cool group wedding photograph or what?

Castle Green still uses an old hand-crank elevator. I love vintage stuff!

Of course, the wedding ceremony =D

Perfect shot of their kiss!

While the wedding guests enjoyed their cocktail hour and congratulated Brienne and Juan, Castle Green’s faculty did a fantastic job decorating the reception hall.

Before the night ended, Gavin and I photographed on last wedding pose of Brienne. Wasn’t she stunning!

Chuck, Chuck, Goose! | Ginny & Bryant

Monday, May 25th, 2009

Ahoy there,

Our next adventure took us to The Reef in Long Beach for Ginny and Bryant’s wedding! Ginny started her wedding preparations at her house in Manhattan Beach, while the boys were knocking some heads playing Street Fighter. The boys always have it easy in weddings, but that means more pictures for the bride! Sit back and enjoy the pictures =D

Sparkly! ^_^

Now that’s a cute ring shot! This was something that Ginny and Bryant picked up during their vacation in Taiwan.

Roll up to a wedding in comfort. You cannot get any more stylish than pink Chucks!

Ginny and Bryant hosted their wedding ceremony on the rooftop of The Reef in Long Beach. The view was spectacular! You can see the entire Downtown Long Beach and the famous Queen Mary!

During the ceremony, something super hilarious happened.  The Queen Mary’s horn tooted and Bryant pulled the microphone over and murmured in a serious tone, “excuse me” and I almost fell over laughing.

With the extra time, we took a few wedding snapshots at a local park.

Every bride should wear Chucks to a wedding or at least on the dance floor!

Yum…the delicious wedding cake =P

The reception hall at The Reef was nicely decorated. At sunset, all the LED lights were nicely lit along the walls.

We had a photo studio set up for everyone at the wedding to take photos. Towards the end, we tore a huge hole in the backdrop for this wedding photograph!

Crusin’ Across San Francisco | Barbara & Aaron

Monday, May 25th, 2009

Hello!

I love San Francisco! This engagement photography session was extra special to us because Barbara and Aaron are not only photography colleagues, but really good friends. We also had two special guests come along with us to this engagement photo session. One is Gene Higa, one of the top ten wedding photographers in the world, and the other is Ann Hamilton, also another top ten wedding photographer in the world. They graced us with their presence and showed us around San Francisco! Even though this was supposed to be an engagement photo session, there were a few pictures of us all horsing around. C’mon, I flew to San Francisco to not only photograph an engagement session, but to relax! Anyway, enjoy our adventure!

Aaron tricked me during their engagement photo session. He told me if ten people turned those keys simultaneously, the building would move…I actually tried turning it. O_o

We integrated a couple ladders for the next engagement pictures. The results were pretty sweet!

I love putting my subjects in awkward positions! Anything to get the shot, right?

san francisco engagement photography

Now that’s some serious air!

san francisco engagement photography

I didn’t do it…but he did. Nice candid shot of Gene Higa. =)

san francisco engagement photography

“No autographs. We’re celebrities and all, but seriously please…”

san francisco engagement photography

Throughout the engagement session, we took a bunch of these goofy shots. Engagement pictures like these are priceless! You look a bit “tied” up there, Gene. Get it?…Nevermind. Be nice, Ann!

san francisco engagement photography

Furious Photographers…do not always need to look furious. =P

san francisco engagement photography

Now that is furious! During our trolley ride to Fisherman’s Wharf, we saw this photo session on top of someone’s roof! Does anyone have a spare roof for us to take pictures?

san francisco engagement photography

We made a pit stop at The Buena Vista. Their Irish Coffee was amazing!!!

san francisco engagement photography

Cheers! To the good times and to the bad times. Let these memories help us grow.

…what were you scheming?

We had the opportunity to take these engagement pictures in a vintage bus before the bus driver had to start her shift!

Gene Higa is actually Super Man!

Barbara and Aaron were extremely wonderful throughout their engagement session! I barely even needed to instruct them. Thank you Gene and Ann for giving us an amazing tour around San Francisco and giving us some tips on photography. I cannot wait to visit San Francisco again!

Peace,
